Intermittent rain is continuing to lash the city of Ahmedabad. For instance, in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday Ahmedabad recorded 19 mm of rain which continued to grip the city today as well.
According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Ahemdabad in a span of 6 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday received 39 mm of heavy rain. This caused waterlogging at many low lying areas in the city. Traffic jam was also reported from a few places that caused inconvenience to office goers and school children. The visibility level in the city around 9 am today had also dropped considerably due to overcast sky.
The month of September has opened on a good note for Ahmedabad in terms of rain. This is evident from the fact that the city on September 5 and September 6 recorded 56 mm and 46 mm of rain, respectively. And the fresh spell of shower today has helped the city record good cumulative rainfall.
The city in the month of September so far has already recorded 192 mm of rain against the monthly average of 86.8 mm, which is double the figure.
And with chances of some light showers in the next 2-3 days, we expect the surplus in the city to rise further.
