The regions of Sikkim, as well as Sub Himalayan West Bengal, have started to see some rains. Moreover, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Siliguri recorded a whopping 152 mm of rainfall.
Currently, the eastern end of the Monsoon trough, is north of its normal position and is likely to remain there. Due to this, at least for the next three to four days, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over both these areas. Moreover, there may be some problems associated with these heavy rains as well.
However, around July 16-17, a Cyclonic Circulation may form, and bring the trough down which will reduce the rains. Until then, heavy to very heavy rains will be seen. Parts of Siliguri, Gangtok, Kalimpong, Bagdogra, Hashimara, Cooch Behar etc. will be seeing heavy rains until the week ends.
