The Monsoon rains over East and West Madhya Pradesh has managed to remain near normal until the end of July. As on July 31, the sub divisional rainfall distribution statistics show that East Madhya Pradesh is rain surplus by 4% and West Madhya Pradesh is rain deficient by 2%. In fact, during the second half of July, most parts of the state received heavy to very heavy rainfall activities, as two successive low pressure areas were seen affecting the region.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Umaria recorded 8.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Seoni 4.8 mm, Indore 2.1 mm, Ujjain 1.4 mm, Guna 0.8 mm and Betul and Jabalpur at 0.4 mm.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough has moved away from the state. Due to which, rains and thundershowers over Madhya Pradesh have reduced significantly. Though scattered light rains cannot be ruled out over the state. But the intensity of these rains and thundershowers is likely to remain very light in nature.

According to Skymet Weather, northern and northeastern parts of Madhya Pradesh will continue to receive light to moderate rains and thundershowers during the next 24 to 48 hours. Places like Sidhi, Rewa, Satna, and Damoh may see light rains.
However, the weather of West and South Madhya Pradesh that include Ujjain, Bhopal and Indore will remain almost dry.
With rains reducing, the day temperatures will rise once again and may reach the mid 30s. Also, the partly cloudy sky is likely to prevail over most parts of the state and this will, eventually lead to increase in the discomfort levels for the residents.
