Showers For Delhi Today-Tomorrow: More Heavy Showers Next Week

Delhi is expected to witness sporadic monsoon showers today and tomorrow. The capital city recorded scattered rainfall last night, for a brief duration. Similar activity is expected in the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the rains will be far and few, to close the month on a dry note. However, the monsoon showers will pick up again next week, with better intensity and spread.

The monsoon trough is the main trigger for the activity over and around Delhi. The deep depression over Gujarat has dragged the western end of the monsoon trough far south of its normal position. Still, the moist airmass and the wind stream generated by the system remain quite favourable for weather activity over the next two days. The deep depression is likely to move to the Northeast Arabian Sea by 30th August and that is the time when it loses grip on the western end. Monsoon rains, if any, will be absolutely localized and fleeting for the subsequent three days, between 30th Aug and 01st Sep 2024.

A fresh low-pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal, tomorrow. The system will get consolidated and organized over the sea for the next 2 days on 29th and 30th Aug 2024. With the movement of this system over land and tracking across the central parts of the country, the monsoon trough will find its proximity to the national capital between 02nd and 06th September. The oscillation of the trough and its vicinity to Delhi will increase the intensity, frequency and duration of the monsoon showers during this period. The first week of September will start on a rainy note for Delhi. A twist in the weather conditions will raise the comfort level and make it feel pleasant, to start with.
