The city of Chennai has been receiving heavy rains for the past two days. So much so that the day before, Chennai recorded a whopping 215 mm of rains the day before resulting in flooding conditions throughout the city.
So much so that there has been traffic chaos, NDRF teams being deployed and schools being closed today in at least 4 districts. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Chennai recorded another spell of heavy rains at 74 mm.
As per weathermen at Skymet, rains in Chennai are expected to continue but they may see a reduction from tonight and some relief in terms of reduced rainfall activity can be witnessed tomorrow.
However, this particular relief is expected to be a short lived one as A Cyclonic Circulation is over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea. Under its influence a low-pressure area is expected to form over southeast Bay of Bengal by tomorrow November 9. It may become more marked, turning into a depression and move towards Tamil Nadu.
Thus, on November 10 and 11, the city of Chennai and its adjoining areas are expected to see more heavy to very heavy rains which may further worsen the situation for the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Thus, we can say that Chennai may see some heavy showers in the coming days, which will cause further problems for Chennaiites.
