This Summer Festival comprises of enormous association of people who assemble and praise the approach of summer. They sing and move in thankfulness to the radiance of God. This event comprises of folk dances, food festival, flower appears, ice skating celebration and even the celebration of Himachali Film Festival. It likewise includes musical exhibitions, some of them are from popular vocalists.

According to sources, the International Shimla Summer Festival, which was scheduled to begin from June 1, has been cancelled. The decision was taken in wake of the ongoing water crisis in the capital.

Shimla has no direct source of water and more than half of the town’s water is lifted from Gumma, an area that draws water from the Shimla catchment sanctuary. However, this year the winter rains for Shimla have been very poor and the city mostly sustains its pre-Monsoon rains from the winter season. Himachal Pradesh during the month of May has always been deficient in terms of rainfall. In fact, the year 2018 began with deficient winter rains. This year in January, it was 91% deficient, February 53% and March 70%.

Thus, the water shortage is being attributed to a dry winter and a prolonged dry spell in the region. It is to be noticed that Shimla is confronting an intense water deficiency for as long as 7-8 days compelling the general population to make advances on the streets and dissent against the government.

In top vacation season, when around hundreds of thousands of sightseers visit Shimla, hoteliers are compelled to wipe out most appointments because of intense water deficiency.

Numerous hotels have been seriously hit by the emergency, with cancelations pouring in after news of the water crisis. Indeed, even with hoteliers drawing in private water providers, properties are not adequate.

Local people and other concerned people have taken to online networking to vent their outrage in the absence of commitment and support from the specialists concerned.
