Rain in Jammu-Kashmir, HImachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand

At present, a Western Disturbance as an upper air system persists over Jammu and Kashmir. The system has remained stationary during the last 24 hours. Due to the presence of this system, many parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and southern parts of Jammu and Kashmir received good rains in the last 24 hours. Significant rainfall occurred over Tehri which received 50 mm rains, Mandi 36 mm, Manali 11mm, Dharamsala 7 mm, Shimla 7 mm and Mukteshwar saw 13 mm of rains. Whereas, Banihal received light rains.

The Western Disturbance still continues to persist over the area. As a result, we expect scattered light to moderate rains over southern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. Isolated heavy rains are also possible over parts of Uttarakhand. Moderate rains are possible during the next 48 hours over Shimla, Una, Dehradun, Nainital, Pantnagar and Uttarkashi.

This rain activity is likely to reduce over the area after 24 hours. However, scattered light rains are likely to continue thereafter as well.

Temperature over these areas is likely to remain close to normal with pleasant morning conditions. Hills of Jammu and Kashmir will remain partly cloudy. Chances of rain is very less over here however light rains might continue at a few places.
