Snow and rain have been lashing the northern hills of the county since the new year began. In the last 24 hours as well, the hilly states of North India particularly, hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh observed rain and snow.
The reason for these rain and snow can be associated with the Western Disturbance which was affecting the Western Himalayas. This weather system has given rain and snow at many places over Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places over Himachal Pradesh on February 8 and February 9.
However, now, this Western Disturbance is moving eastwards and thus light rain can be expected in the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and North Uttarakhand. Moreover, after the passage of this weather system eastwards, the weather is expected to clear up once again. Dry weather is again expected to start prevailing over the northern hills of the country.
As the weather will start clearing up, temperatures which were generally low will also start rising. Moreover, the National Highway and other linked roads to these hill states will also open to welcome tourists.
Dry and clear weather is expected to continue until the arrival of the next fresh Western Disturbance which is likely to affect the Western Himalayas by February 14.
For those who had halted their plans to tour their favorite hill stations in North India, this is the best time to pack bags and head towards these popular hill stations.
