While most parts of the country have been observing hot weather conditions, the hills of North India are also witnessing similar circumstances.
Shimla, the summer escape for so many is blazing under the hot sun and the temperatures continue to be on the rising trend.
The capital city of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has recorded 26.8°C as its maximum on April 16, which happens to be the highest of the season.
Several other places in Himachal Pradesh have also been observing extremely high temperatures.
In fact, a few areas in the hills have been observing heatwave conditions during the past 24 hours. For instance, Bilaspur recorded 39°C, which is eight degres above normal, Hamirpur 37°C, Una 39.4°C, Sundernagar 37.1°C, Nahan 35.8°C.
Places including Dehradun, and Mukteshwar in Uttarakhand have also been recording above normal temperatures.
However, now a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India. The system has already given some rain over a few areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Today evening onward, both Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive rain.
While Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are likely to witness moderate to heavy rain in the coming days, light to moderate rainfall activity will also be observed over a few areas of Uttarakhand.
With these rains, temperatures will come down bringing in the much needed relief.
