Unlike the last few days, it wasn't a very foggy morning for most parts of the country. Delhiites woke up to shallow fog with the visibility at 400 meters heaving a sigh of relief. Areas including Dwarka, Noida Expressway, Faridabad, Indirapuram, Model Town, Vikaspuri and Lajpat Nagar observed shallow fog. Lakshmi Nagar was the only area in the national capital to observe dense fog. However, rail and air traffic was still affected causing delays.
On the other hand, Gorakhpur, Jammu and Jamnagar were enveloped under very thick covers of fog with the visibility dropping down to nil. Lucknow and Amritsar also observed very dense fog with the visibility at a mere 50 meters. Fair conditions were observed in cities including Chennai, Agra, Gwalior, and Agartala where the visibility was at 800 meters. Jaipur and Allahabad also unlike the past few days observed good visibility at 500 meters.
Rail and air traffic was hit hard causing major delays. Overall, four flights were cancelled. The departure of 6 flights was delayed including the flights scheduled to Lucknow, Bangalore, Port Blair, Jaipur and Goa. However, there were no delays on flight arrivals. Rail traffic was severely affected causing the delay of 99 trains. Some of these delays include Mahabodhi Express (New Delhi - Gaya) by 22 hrs, Purvottar Express (New Delhi - Guwahati) by 9 hrs, Nandan Kanan Express (New Delhi - Puri) by 18 hrs and Hemkund Express (Jammu - Rishikesh) which was delayed by 20 hrs.
