The state of Rajasthan is reeling under extreme heat with temperatures more than 45 degrees in many places. The maximum temperature at most places over West Rajasthan and many places over East Rajasthan are running 5-7 degrees above normal amounting to widespread heatwave conditions. Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, and Jodhpur have recorded the season’s highest temperature amounting to severe heatwave conditions.

Hot and dry winds are blowing from across the border resulting sizzling heat for the last few days over West Rajasthan. The temperature in the semi-arid region of Pakistan is in excess of 50 degrees (Jacobabad 51 degrees). Northwesterly winds are transporting this heat over parts of Rajasthan and particularly the western parts inclusive of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pali, and Nagaur are facing the brunt.

The blazing heat is likely to continue for the next 4-5 days. There is no active western disturbance likely in the next few days. Also, the monsoon current will go slightly weak for the central parts and fresh weather system will be required to push the monsoon further over North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh before making advancement over Delhi and neighborhood. Relief is expected for the eastern parts of the state first, by June 23, and follows later over the western region also. Few spells of dust storm or thunderstorm with squally winds cannot be ruled out due to rising heat over the area.
