While the southern part of the nation is sitting tight for the landing of Southwest Monsoon, the northern part of the nation has grasped under heatwave to extreme heatwave conditions. Heatwave has gripped its hold over most parts of Central and North India with the temperatures rising above 45-degrees. The real impact of the heatwave conditions is being tolerated by the state of Rajasthan. Aside from these states, nearby areas of Gujarat, pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are also affected by heatwave conditions.

Yesterday the temperatures over few places even touched 49 degrees. The maximum temperature recorded by Churu was 49.7°C, Sri Ganganagar 49.1°C, Bikaner 47.7°C, Phalodi 47.2°C, Jaisalmer 46.7°C, Pilani 46.1°C, Alwar 45.6°C.

Due to presence of a Western Disturbance over North Jammu and Kashmir and its induced upper air cyclonic circulation over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining region, the maximum temperatures are rising over the northern parts of Rajasthan.

However, northwesterly dry and warm winds with clear sky conditions are prevailing over Pakistan and Rajasthan region. These winds are warm in nature. As the western disturbance and its associated induced cyclonic circulation has moved northeastwards from the region hence temperatures will start receding slowly.

Even though, severe heatwave conditions will continue over northwest parts of Rajasthan and in pockets of Southeast Rajasthan during next 24 hours.

Thereafter, temperatures are likely to decrease hence heatwave conditions are likely to abate after 48 hours from many parts of Rajasthan.
