It seems like weather gods are not so happy with the state of Gujarat. While the region was witnessing close to normal temperatures last week, tides have turned and hot weather has made a comeback over the region.
Temperatures which were settling in the late 30 degrees have not only reached the 40-degree mark but are also running beyond it. A few areas are observing maximums settling in the mid-40s. These weather conditions are attributed to the inflow of north northeasterly winds blowing from the Pakistan region.
These winds are hot and dry in nature and are coming from the country of Pakistan where maximums have even crossed the 45-degree mark as well. The absence of any weather system over the region also plays a role in the increased maximums over the state of Gujarat.
Kandla in the state is the hottest city in the country today. Other parts have also been a part of the list. Let’s take a look at the table below depicting the maximum temperatures.
Some parts of the state are observing severe heatwave conditions. In fact, the departure from normal is somewhere between 5 to 11 degrees which lies in the category of severe to very severe.
As per weathermen at Skymet, some relief is in the offing for the state of Gujarat. The region will witness a change in wind pattern from northeasterly to southwesterly. These southwesterly winds are relatively cool in nature. Before that, the state will observe heatwave and residents are advised to exercise caution.
