With temperatures likely to cross a whopping 45°C, severe heat wave is set to hit Delhi and NCR in the next 48 hours. According to meteorologists at Skymet, the day temperature in Delhi might be recorded close to 44°C today while it might touch 45 degrees Celsius tomorrow.

Since the last two to three days, temperatures are on a rise in the region. Just yesterday, Delhi recorded its maximum temperature at 41.8°C, which was one degree above normal. The normal temperature at this time of the season is around 40 degrees Celsius.

We expect dry weather conditions to prevail in entire Delhi and NCR area for at least the next one week. Moreover, dry and hot northwesterly winds will continue to blow in Delhi and its adjoining areas for another week or so. Although, a few Western Disturbance will affect the Western Himalayas, but they will be feeble to impact the weather in the Northern Plains including Delhi and NCR area. Sky will remain mainly clear during this period.

Although the onset of Monsoon is usually between June 29 in Delhi and NCR, it might get delayed this year.

The last time, heat wave conditions occurred in Delhi this season was during the last week of April. On April 30, the day temperature at Palam had settled at 43.4 degrees Celsius. Since then, heat wave did not make a comeback to trouble Delhiites. But the last week of May is proving otherwise.
