Mumbai Rains usually take a backseat in the month of October itself with almost no sight of them, beginning November. Even October sees lesser rains only and heavier showers remain in the shadow.

However, this year has definitely been an unusual year with the city witnessing rains in the month of October as well. To top it all, Mumbai rains which were in hiding for a long while made its presence felt today, i.e., on the first day of the month of November.

In fact, showers continued with series of lightning strikes and thunder rumbling throughout the city during the evening hours.

As per the weathermen at Skymet Weather, these rains have occurred due to none other than Cyclone Maha, which is currently over East Central Arabian Sea about 610 km south of Veraval, 590 km northnorthwest of Mangaluru and 410 km west of Goa.

Thus, the outer periphery of the storm has been giving rains in Mumbai, which is a very unusual sight in the month of November at least. Moreover, these showers may be seen for the next hour or so, taking a backseat thereafter.

There are chances that the city of Mumbai may see some sporadic rains until the storm moves west northwestwards.
