Severe cold day conditions grip Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh, to improve soon

The state of Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing extreme cold weather, particularly during the day with many parts observing cold day conditions. In fact, almost the entire state including the central, eastern, and western parts of the region have been reeling under cold day conditions.

Cold day condition is announced when the minimum temperature is < 10°C and the maximum temperature is at least 4.4°C below the normal.  A severe cold day is when the maximum is at least 6.5°C below the normal.

Talking about cold day conditions as of today. Cities including Agra, Bijnor, Aligarh along with Meerut and Muzaffarnagar have seen the maximums settling at least 6-7 degrees below the normal levels. This means that many regions in Uttar Pradesh have been reeling under severe cold day conditions as minimums are already settling below the 10 degree mark.

Moreover, the city of Agra witnessed its maximum at a mere 11.2 degrees Celsius today, i.e. Jan 19, which is 10 degrees below the normal levels resulting in severe cold wave conditions.

Along with this, northern parts of Madhya Pradesh including Gwalior, Khajuraho and Rewa have also been observing cold day conditions.

These conditions are expected to remain the same for a day or so, thereafter, due to the approach of a fresh Western Disturbance as well as its induced Cyclonic Circulation, rains will make an appearance, abating cold day conditions from Uttar Pradesh.
