Seven states receive rain simultaneously

Seven states of India namely Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh simultaneously received rain on the 6^th of February. The national capital observed a cloudy day on Thursday with intermittent rain from morning till late night. However, strong easterly/south easterly winds did not allow the minimum temperatures to drop below 15°C, which is 7 degrees above normal.

Rain in Delhi has dissipated and weather will be sunny with day temperatures settling in the mid-twenties for the next 3 days. With the reversal of wind patterns, minimum temperatures could plummet to single digit in the next 48 to 72 hours. Parts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Bareilly, Bahraich and Meerut received some rain on Thursday while Himachal Pradesh observed good amounts of winter rain. Dharamsala, the popular tourist destination recorded 42 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

Remnants of the Western Disturbance brought light rain after a long gap in the Northeastern states. The Western Disturbance after giving rain in North India usually travels eastwards and gradually moves away from India. Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh received 0.2 mm while, Guwahati and Jorhat in Assam received traces of rain.

Fog in North India has abated but shallow to dense fog was observed in parts of East and Northeast India today morning. The general visibility in Guwahati was 200 meters, Bagdogra 600 meters and 800 meters in both Agartala and Patna.
