Monsoon rains reappeared over Bangalore, with the city recording light rains on Tuesday. All thanks to the trough extending from Chhattisgarh up to North Tamil Nadu across Andhra Pradesh.
According to Skymet Weather, it is running in close proximity to South Interior Karnataka, bringing rains and thundershowers over Bangalore and nearby areas.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, airport observatory in Bangalore recorded 12 mm of rain, while the city observatory received 4 mm.
At present also, Bangalore is witnessing cloudy weather conditions. With this, weather conditions will remain favourable for light to moderate rains and thundershowers for the next 24 hours.
Subsequently, trough will move away, leading to decrease in intensity of rain but light rains will continue to drench the city for another 48 hours.
The city has not recorded much rains during the month of September. So far, Bangalore has recorded mere 33.9 mm of rain, which is far behind from its monthly average rainfall of 241 mm.
Entire North Interior Karnataka including Bangalore has been rain deficit. As on September 27, the cumulative rainfall deficiency for the region stands at 19%.
And with only two days left to bring down the curtains for the Southwest Monsoon 2016, we do not expect the region to cover the deficiency.
