See-saw pattern temperature for Delhi, sunny weekend likely

Delhi was lashed with rain and thundershower accompanied with strong winds yesterday. Break after the first spell in the forenoon and the second one in the evening was associated with squally winds over Delhi. Base observatory of Delhi, Safdarjung and Palam airport recorded 2.1mm and 3.8mm rainfall respectively. Meteorological office at Lodhi Road (Delhi) measured 2.5mm rain during the last 24 hours. As expected the minimum temperature at Safdarjung (Delhi) dropped to 6.8°C from 12.4°C and at Palam, it plummeted to 8.9°C from 14.4°C of the previous day. Lodhi Road also slumped to 6.8°C, a straight fall of 6°C.

Weather system has now vacated Delhi NCR area and shifted eastward across parts of Uttar Pradesh. Reversal of winds has commenced and likely to resume shortly to the seasonal pattern of northwesterly. This change will bring back the chill factor to cause cold conditions during night and early morning.

Weekend on 06th and 07th February will be sunny albeit with see-saw temperature profile for Delhi. While the minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to slide to about 5°C, the maximum will climb to reach 25°C. However windy conditions will restrict shooting of day temperature and the afternoon weather is going to be pleasantly warm and sunny for Delhi. It will be a long wait for the next spell of rain for the national capital.
