Second spell of winter rains likely in PunjabIt seems like rain gods have developed a liking towards the state which is always full of life. While Punjab has already received its first spell of winter rains during the beginning of the year, a second one is on the cards for the North Indian state.

During the month of December, winter remained mild over most parts of the plains as well as the hills of North India. However, as we entered the first leg of the year 2017, weather patterns have taken a significant turn.

During the first few days in January, Punjab and adjoining areas of the North Indian plains witnessed their first spell of rains.

Now, another spell of winter rain is approaching the state. A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect the hills of North India January 14 onward. An induced cyclonic circulation is also expected to develop over Pakistan and adjoining Punjab under its influence.

In view of this, light rain is likely to commence over Punjab on January 15. Thereafter, intensity of rainfall is expected to increase on January 16 with light to moderate rains likely over several parts of the state. Adjoining areas of Haryana are also expected to witness some rainy spells during this period.
