Tamil Nadu is one of the best performing state after Kerala during the Northeast Monsoon. At present, Tamil Nadu is rain deficient by 11 percent, despite two back to back weather systems which approached the state of Tamil Nadu recently- one was cyclone ‘Gaja’ and another was a Well-Marked Low. Both have given heavy rains at many places over Tamil Nadu during the second and third week of November.
State of Tamil Nadu remained dry during last 24 hours. There have been no significant weather systems in last few days, thus the weather continued to remain dry.
As per the experts, a trough is extending from north-west Bay of Bengal to Sri Lanka coast and due to this easterly are expected to strengthen. Thus, we expect rainfall activities to make a comeback along the coast.
In coming 24 hours, rainfall will be mainly light at scattered places of coastal areas including Chennai and southern parts. The intensity of rains will be isolated to moderate. Due to these rains, day temperatures might drop marginally. This activity is expected to continue for coming two to three days.
Chennai is expected to receive light to moderate rains in coming 24 hours. Since the intensity of rains will not be much, therefore the rain deficiency will not get covered.
As per Skymet, spell of good rains over South peninsula can be expected around December 4.
