India at present is witnessing some unusual and infrequent weather conditions. Recently, Kashmir witnessed a decent amount of snowfall which is a rare phenomenon in the month of April. At the same time, Rajasthan is witnessing the day temperatures settling below the normal which are again quite uncommon at this time of the year.
Despite the fact that most of the central and western parts of the country are observing the day temperatures peaking above the normal, Rajasthan was under the influence of diminishing maximums.
As per Skymet Weather, normally during the months of March and April, very hot weather grips the western states of the country and Rajasthan falls under that category too.
Until the last week of March, many districts of the desert state were observing the maximums settling in higher 30’s. So much so that a few regions of West Rajasthan were reeling under heat wave conditions in the first week of April with the maximums even surpassing the 40-degree mark.
However, from April 7 onwards, a significant drop in both the day and night temperatures has been recorded. For instance, on April 5, the maximum temperature recorded in Bikaner was scorching 41°C and the minimum was 28.5°C. But in the last 24 hours, the day temperature dropped and settled at 35°C with even the minimum settling at 20°C.
Hence, within a spell of four to five days, the ongoing heatwave conditions converted into below normal temperature profile.
Skymet Weather reiterates the reason for this sudden change in the temperature profile can be attributed to change in the wind pattern which is now blowing from north and northwest direction. Moreover, these winds are coming from the snow clad Western Himalayas that have recently witnessed fresh snow and rain.
However, now temperatures are once again expected to start rising gradually. And during the next 48 hours, they will reach the near normal levels. Moreover, in the subsequent 48 hours, few districts of Rajasthan may even cross the 40-degree mark once again.
In a nutshell, the comfortable weather days are over for the state and hot and uneasy weather will start commencing once again.
