Similarly, Bhuj, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Deesa, Sundarnagar and Surat in Gujarat would also record temperatures touching 40°C mark. Due to soaring high temperatures, the weather is likely to be extremely hot over both the state.

Updated on March 23 at 6:30 pm (IST): Pre Monsoon showers have not made an appearance over Gujarat meanwhile, Rajasthan did witness few spells of rain. At present, the weather over both the state is warm and dry.

In fact, during the last 24 hours, West Rajasthan and many parts of Gujarat have witnessed an increase in the minimum temperatures. Whereas, due to the flow of northerly winds the night temperatures of East Rajasthan witnessed a drop.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, we expect a marginal increase in day temperatures over Gujarat as well as Rajasthan during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Thereafter, most parts of Rajasthan particularly west and central would witness a significant increase of 3°C to 4°C in day temperatures. Districts such as Barmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Churu, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali, Swai Madhopur, Sikar and Jaipur are expected to record above normal day maximums. The weather during the day will turn very hot curating uneasiness for the residents of Rajasthan.

This significant increase in day temperatures over Rajasthan would be due to the change in wind direction from northerly to westerly and southwesterly.

Gujarat will too follow the same trend in the coming days. Places such as Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Surat will continue to record temperatures slightly above normal or near normal.
