For the last 3-4 days there has been a sudden rise in day temperatures across the country, particularly in Northwest, West, Central and East India. Though by the second week of April temperatures begin to rise and the weather becomes hot. Unusual rain due to frequent weather systems had kept the temperatures under check till the middle of the month. But now there is hardly any weather system, not even in the hills due to which there has been a spike in temperatures.
Currently, the winds are blowing from the northwest direction, which is largely a desert area. Due to the terrain the winds are hot and are pushing up the temperatures across the region. These winds are also causing hazy conditions at several places as they are carrying dust along with them.
According to Skymet meteorology Division in India, thirteen states which include Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are recording day temperatures above the 40-degrees Celsius mark.
The following table shows the places sweltering under intense heat
The hot conditions in the region are going to prevail for some more time. Only East India is likely to receive light rain in next 2-3 days after which some relief can be expected from the rising temperatures.
Currently, South and Northeast India are the only pockets that are receiving some rain. The rainfall activity in Northeast India is going to continue for the entire week.
