Delhi rains displayed a power packed performance during the month of July. So much so that the national capital recorded the highest 24-hour rains in a decade in one of the last days of July. August also hasn’t been all that bad for Delhi.
In fact, the city has been receiving on and off rains since the beginning of the month. Rains have not been widespread and have occurred in patches. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Palam observatory in Delhi has witnessed a whopping 34 mm of rain.
The axis of the Monsoon trough is currently passing through south of Delhi due to which moisture incursion has increased over the region. Thus, several parts of national capital recorded some good spells of rain.
The Western Disturbance is currently over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. This system is expected to move towards Jammu and Kashmir which will result in the flow of southwesterly winds over Delhi and the NCR region. Delhi and other parts of NCR are receiving good rains at present as well.
During the next two to three days, scattered rains will continue over Delhi and the NCR region. Also, cloudy sky conditions will be observed over the region. These rains will mostly occur either during morning hours or around late afternoon/evening.
However, the sun may come up in between resulting in clear sky conditions. Thus, the possibility of slight discomfort during the afternoon hours cannot be ruled out.
