Chennai rains have been having a good time for the past few days. So much so that the capital city of Tamil Nadu has been witnessing continuous rains of light to moderate intensity. In fact, since the last ten days, the city has received rains all throughout with just one dry day being an exception.

While moderate showers did take a backseat over Chennai during the last 24 hours, rains of light intensity were witnessed over both the observatories of the city. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, the Minambakkam observatory recorded 5 mm of rains while Nungambakkam witnessed a mere 0.5 mm of rainfall.

These rainfall activities have been attributed to the presence of the axis of Monsoon trough which has been running across the low pressure area up to the Tamil Nadu coast. Due to this, some moisture incursion has been taking place over the region.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, scattered light rains are expected to continue over the city of Chennai during the next 24 to 48 hours. The possibility of isolated moderate showers over the region also cannot be ruled out. Even after the ongoing rains, weather conditions will continue to remain on the humid side.
