Since the last few days, most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and adjoining Uttar Pradesh were experiencing dry weather conditions accompanied by dry westerly winds.
However, the winds have now changed to become easterly. This condition will result in increase in the humidity levels, which will cause isolated rain/thundershowers over many places in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR.
A Western Disturbance is also over North Pakistan, which is gradually moving towards Jammu and Kashmir. This system has resulted in good rains over Pakistan and will now affect North India as well. Northern districts of Punjab are expected to receive scattered rain in next 48 hours.
Many areas particularly Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Chandigarh will receive scattered rain/thundershowers. This may not be able to lead to a very significant drop in the temperatures. However, the residents of the aforementioned areas will surely heave a sigh of relief after this short spell of rain.
