Scattered rain in Delhi sprinkles relief

rain in delhiAs June begins in Delhi, so does the peak summer season as harsh weather ushers in. However, June has brought slight relief from the scorching heat as it has bid farewell to May, one of the hottest month this year in Delhi, with light and scattered rain that was observed in several parts of Delhi.

As Skymet reiterated, dust storms, thundershowers and traces of rain made an appearance in the national capital on 31st May and early morning of 1st June. The weather activity resulted in cloudy skies, cool winds and a dip in temperature that has made Delhi summer bearable for the day.

For instance, due to the weather activity in last two days, maximum temperature at Safdarjung Observatory dropped by 2°C as it settled at 40.6°C on 31st May in comparison to 42.6°C on 30th May. Similarly, minimum temperature too took a dip of 3 degrees as it came down to 25.9°C on Monday morning from being at 28.9°C on Sunday.  The minimum is also two notches below the monthly average temperature.

While Palam, Safdarjung and Faridabad recorded trace, Ayanagar witnessed 0.2 mm of rain in last 24 hours.

A fresh Western Disturbance can be seen over Jammu and Kashmir and the induced cyclonic circulation persists over Haryana and adjoining areas. Moist winds from Arabian Sea are also reaching upto this system that will result in dust storm and thundershowers in next 48 hours. This weather activity is likely to intensify on 3rd June, forcing the maximum temperature to come below the 40-degrees mark.
