The weather in Northeastern states was almost dry for the last many days. Scattered rain and snowfall have occurred over many parts of Arunachal Pradesh during the last few days. In fact, since February 7 rain and snowfall is going on over Himachal Pradesh and may continue for another 24 to 48 hours. Parts of Assam and Sikkim have also recorded light rainfall. However, Hills of Sikkim have recorded light snowfall also.
Almost all the Northeastern states are large rain deficient accept Arunachal Pradesh which is in deficient rain category. Sikkim Assam and Arunachal Pradesh usually receives rainfall in the wake of moving Western disturbances. Remnants of Western disturbance usually move along Himalayas and reach Sikkim Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Maximum temperatures of many parts of Arunachal Pradesh are below normal by 5 to 6 degrees due to ongoing rain and snow activities. Temperatures may increase gradually from February 14 but expected to remain below normal.
