Scanty rains to make Kolkata witness humid weather

Monsoon rains started with a lot of promise in the eastern parts of India. But after June 12, only light to moderate rain has been going on in the City of Joy, Kolkata.

Monsoon has not been very active over Gangetic West Bengal in the recent past but heavy to very heavy rainfall has been continuing over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas.

As of now Kolkata may receive few scattered showers for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the rainfall activity will go almost dry. And the trademark warm and humid conditions will make a comeback.

Monsoon will remain subdued for the next 4-5 days as revival of Monsoon rains are expected in the first week of July. Reason for these subdued activity, can be attributed to the low-pressure area over west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast.

The winds as well as moisture concentration will be around this weather system. The flow of moderate southerly moist winds will decrease or rather cut off over Gangetic West Bengal that includes Kolkata. This will lead to drier weather conditions in the region.

But after such warm, moist and windless weather there is some relief in stock for Kolkata. By July 3, Monsoon rains will again pick up pace and pleasant weather conditions will make a comeback.
