Rainfall Forecast for Kolkata

Kolkata will continue to receive some rainfall during the first fortnight of October. Monsoon will withdraw from this part of the country only after October 10.

Generally, second half of the month remains dry. Rainfall is witnessed only when any tropical storm forms in the Bay of Bengal. Kolkata is prone to stormy weather as such systems have the tendency to skirt towards Gangetic West Bengal and Kolkata. Otherwise, the city witnesses least weather activity in terms of rainfall during this time. Proximity to the tropic of cancer keeps Kolkata humid throughout the month.

This year the Divine Goddess Durga will arrive into the mortal world from her heavenly abode on October 19. Threat of a wet Durga Puja looms large as the city could witness some rainfall during the 5-day affair. End of October is not a safe period and sporadic rains can play spoilsport.
