Northwest India has been seeing rising temperatures for the past few days with parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan already seeing a maximum above 40 degrees or so. Now, there is a Western Disturbance over the mountainous regions, but will stick over the hills only and not have any effect on the plains. However, there is another system coming up on April 17 which will join up and increase the inetnsity and spread of rains.
Thus, we can expect some rains over Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana around April 17 and until April 20. Rains in Rajasthan may be seen slightly earlier, around 16th itself. These rains would reduce the maximums and at least arrest the rise in temperatures over these areas.
Chances of a heat wave may have been the case, but due to the system and rains, we do not expect anything of that sort as temperatures will reduce.
