After inducing a fury of intense rains and thundershowers over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, now, rains have reduced significantly over both the states. The weather has gone almost dry over both the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There will now be a relief from the ongoing flood situation over the states as the rain activities will continue to be subdued.
Clear weather over Himachal Pradesh will further ease down the relief and rescue operations. However, there may be some difficulties in Uttarakhand for the next 48 hours.
However, scattered light rains with a few moderate spells are possible over Uttarakhand until August 23. However, very heavy rains or incidents of cloudbursts are ruled out. The weather of Jammu and Kashmir is also expected to remain clear with isolated rains.
Just recently, extremely heavy rains induced widespread floods over both states. Cloudbursts and landslides resulted in many casualties and widespread loss to property. Although rain activities are expected to reduce, it will take time for floods to subside.
As of Tuesday night, landslides and rain-related incidents have taken lives of 30 people so far in Himachal Pradesh. While several tourists are still missing in different areas as all major routes are affected.
