The month of October is going to end on a dry note for the state of Maharashtra as it is no mood to bid the state adieu with any rainfall.

Rains gradually start reducing in this month, but this time, Maharashtra has remained highly rain deficient with only one or two spells of showers observed in some pockets.

In fact, dry weather commences from month of November and continues till May, but the state already started experiencing this dryness way before since the very beginning of the month.

If we talk region wise, Vidarbha has remained almost dry with 99% of rain deficiency followed by Marathwada by 87%, Madhya Maharashtra by 74% and Konkan & Goa by 57%.

At present, the variation between day and night temperatures, i.e. diurnal variation is also very high. Afternoons are very hot with temperatures soaring up in higher 30s while minimums over interior parts are between 13°C to 16°C making the nights cool and pleasant.

Further, a low-pressure area has developed over Bay of Bengal due to which humid easterly winds will continue to blow over Maharashtra for next 2-3 days. These winds will marginally increase the humidity level bringing some sort of relief from hot weather conditions.

In the coming days, day temperatures will marginally drop and haziness is expected to set in.
