Monsoon continued to be active over Northeast India, giving fairly widespread heavy rains over the region including Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the last 48 hours. Few places have also recorded extremely heavy rainfall. Cherrapunji is one such station that has been blessed with 100+ mm of rainfall for the past few days.
At present, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim remains surplus with 20% of excess rainfall, while the rest of the states in Northeast India are experiencing below normal rainfall including Assam and Meghalaya that are 25% rain deficient, Arunachal Pradesh by 2% and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura region is rain deficient by 36%.

Skymet Weather expects these heavy rains to decrease and subdued Monsoon activities are anticipated to continue over the entire Northeast India including Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Owing to these subdued rains, the rain deficiency over the region will increase further.
