The month of February has not ended yet and the temperatures are already soaring 8 degrees C above normal over many areas of West India, especially over Gujarat. This spiked up levels of mercury is due to the warm southwesterly winds blowing over the region. But looks like, marginal relief is in sight.
At present, the temperatures are recorded above normal in most areas of the state. In fact, in few areas the mercury is 5-7°C above normal. The temperatures are hovering above 30°C mark. Due to such rise in temperatures, days have become unbelievably hot & uneasy and warm & uncomfortable nights are also being observed.
Due to presence of a cyclonic circulation over the region, warm winds from Arabian Sea were entering the region. But such weather condition will not last long as the cyclonic circulation has moved away and now the comparatively cool winds will make way towards the region.
These winds are drier in nature and will make both minimum and maximum temperatures to drop considerably. Drop in temperatures is likely and can go near normal over the region. This relief in weather condition is likely in next 24 hours, so ease in weather can be expected over the region.
