Relief from fog in North India

Most people in North India witnessed a fog free morning but a chilly Saturday morning. After a clear weather in last few days, cold weather has intensified across North India. The national capital region and other areas in Delhi remained fog free on Saturday.

Places in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh too remained fog-free. Amritsar, for instance, reported visibility at 2000 meters. Visibility in Gaya was reported at 1600 meters whereas visibility In Varanasi was reported at 1200 meters. The city of nawabs, Lucknow, observed a visibility of 2500 meters whereas Patna in Bihar recorded visibility at 1200 meters. However, Siliguri witnessed dense fog as visibility dropped to nil. Agartala too experienced fog with just 100 meters visibility at 7 am.

The Palam observatory witnessed visibility of 700 meters yet air traffic was partially affected. Four flights have been delayed in departures and two delayed in arrivals. In comparison to yesterday, six flights were cancelled today.

 

People at railways stations too were distressed due to delays as 16 trains were running behind schedule. Some of these trains include: Shridham Superfast Express was late by 10 hours, Magadh Express was late by 4 hours, Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express by 7 hours and Brahmaputra Mail by 9 hours.
