Both the states of Punjab and Haryana were witnessing warm and dry weather conditions since many days. Although, presently, a Western Disturbance is passing across Jammu & Kashmir and it has induced a cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana. A trough is also extending from this circulation to western parts of Uttar Pradesh.
In view of these weather systems, we expect rain and thundershower activities to occur at a few places over North Punjab and parts of Haryana.
Due to these scattered rain activities and clouding, by tonight or either tomorrow, there are chances of maximum temperatures to drop by 2°C to 3°C, bringing along a sigh of relief from the ongoing hot weather conditions.
By October 12, the Western Disturbance will move away North-eastwards and the induced Cyclonic Circulation and trough will also become less marked.
Weather will once again start clearing up leading to clear sky and bright sunshine. Day temperatures are expected to rise once again.
Usually, Northwest plains of Punjab and Haryana including Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh, receive rainfall in post Monsoon season or winters due to the passage of Western Disturbances similar to what is being experienced at this point of time.
