During the last few days the rainfall activity has decreased over most parts of Uttar Pradesh except at a few places over Central Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions which recorded light rainfall activity. These decreased rains have affected the rain performance figures considerably. As of September 7, Western Uttar Pradesh is deficit of seasonal rainfall by 28% whereas eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh are deficient by 20%.
At present, the weather is mainly very warm and unceasingly humid over most parts. These dry weather conditions are continuing due to the absence of any significant weather systems around Uttar Pradesh.
Presently, a Low Pressure Area lies over central parts of Odisha. The Axis of Monsoon Trough passes across central parts of Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Now, the Low Pressure Area will be moving west-northwestwards slowly.
As a relief, eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive light to moderate rains at many places for the next two to three days. Heavy showers are likely at isolated places over southern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Western parts of the state will however remain dry.
Places like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Banda, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Raebareli and Kanpur etc may experience heavy showers during the next 24 hours. Thereafter light to moderate rains are likely to continue in spells.
All these rains will be useful to bring down the temperatures. Crops like paddy, sugarcane, jowar, bajra, etc might be benefitted with these rains.
However, due to the lack of rains, crops in West Uttar Pradesh might be affected due to dry weather.
