Now the pan India spell of rain we have been talking about has already commenced in North India. The rain belt will extend and cover more parts of North India by Friday night. The intensity and spread of rainfall will increase gradually.

There is an East-West trough extending from West Bengal to Vidarbha along with the North-South trough running from Maharashtra to Tamil Nadu across Telangana, Karnataka. These two weather systems will together bring some rainfall over Maharashtra, particularly Vidarbha. Isolated light rainfall likely between March 12 and 14 in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and coastal stations.

Nevertheless, the crops in Maharashtra will not be affected much. The intensity of rainfall will not be as much as the last spell of rain, from February 27 to about March 5.

Temperatures at present are quite high in most parts of the state. On Thursday, Nagpur recorded 39°C as maximum temperature. Other places like Brahmapuri, Wardha, Chandrapur and adjoining areas have also recorded temperatures close to 40°C. This spell of rain will bring much relief from the prevailing heat.
