Southwest Monsoon has been giving relentless rains overBiharand Jharkhand. This ongoing spell of rainfall over these two states could be attributed to the low pressure area which can be seen over GangeticWest Bengaland adjoining North Bay of Bengal.
This weather system is further expected to move in a north-northwest direction. Due to this movement of the system, good Monsoon rains are likely over parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. During the next 2-3 days, we can expect fairly widespread rain with few moderate to heavy spells over many parts of Bihar particularly East Bihar and Jharkhand.
Purnea in Bihar received moderate showers in a span of 24 hours and recorded 41 mm. Farbesganj also received 15 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours. Bhagalpur received 8 mm and Supaul 5 mm of light rainfall.
InJharkhand, Jamshedpur received 41 mm, Ranchi 10 mm and Bokaro 9 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours.
By the end of this week, Skymet Weather predicts this spell of rainfall to reduce the rainfall deficiencies to a great extent.
So far Bihar has received 17% less rains than normal, therefore it continues to be the most rain deficient state in East India. However, Jharkhand comparatively has received 4 % less rains than the normal Monsoon showers.
