Record snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh this February

The famous tourist places in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Kullu and Manali have been witnessing good spells of rain and snow during this February till now. According to the data available with Skymet, famous tourist destinations like Kullu, Manali and capital Shimla have recorded more than average snow and rain during the first 17 days of February.

Shimla has recorded 81.4 mm of snow and rain against the average of 63.8 mm for the entire month. Manali recorded 139.1 mm of snow and rain against the average of 133.5 mm for the month while, Kullu recorded a staggering 191 mm of snow and rain in this period which is way above the average of 107.3 mm for the month.

Three spells of snow and rain have been witnessed in these places with the first between 3rd and 5th February. There was not let up from snow and rain as the next spells commenced from next day 6th of February and lasted till 8th of February. The next spells that was fairly widespread in the state between 13th and 15th of February brought 41.2 mm of rain and snow during the period. Similarly Kullu and Manali recorded 62.2 mm and 63 mm of snow and rain.

According to our weather forecast, Western Disturbances will give at least two spells of snow and rain at these places, with the first spell starting from 21st of February and the next is likely to occur in the last week of February.
