East Uttar Pradesh region has been receiving frequent moderate spells of rainfall since the onset of Monsoon. But, there was no heavy spell of rain.

However, Monsoon rains have now gained strength over the region. On July 1, Bahraich received 23 mm, while on July 2 the city has received a whopping 209 mm of rain. This is the highest 24-hour rainfall in last 10 years. Before this, the highest 24-hours rainfall was witnessed on July 18, 2013 (67.4 mm).

This is also the all-time highest rainfall witnessed by Bahraich.

As of July 1, Bahraich was rain deficit by 24%. Seems like, soon the city will be able cover up the rainfall deficiency. Since today morning, Bahraich has received 31 mm of rainfall.

There is a trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas up to Northwest Bay of Bengal across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and the low pressure area over North Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand and Gangetic plains. This trough is responsible for the ongoing rains over Bahraich.
