At one point of time, Andhra Pradesh comprised of three subdivisions, namely, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. However, after Telangana became a state of its own, now, the state consists of two subdivisions including Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

This time, state wise, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have displayed a decent performance with Andhra Pradesh being in the normal range while Telangana has seen surplus rains only. For Andhra Pradesh, sub division wise, Coastal Andhra Pradesh has been rain surplus by 17 percent. On the other hand, Rayalaseema continues to be largely deficient at a whopping -43 percent as on August 29.

Rayalaseema consists of four districts namely Anantapur, Chittoor, Kurnool, and Cudappah. In fact, usually even when an entire sub division is deficient, parts of it see some good showers but it is not the case with Rayalaseema.

All the four districts are deficient with two being largely deficient as the deficiency is exceeding 40 percent as well. Cudappah is rain deficient by 61 percent and Chittoor by 36 percent along with Kurnool at -41 percent. Meanwhile, Anantapur is rain deficient by 33 percent.

During the next one week also, rains are not likely, and the entire sub division will remain rain deficient. No signs of recovery are expected as of now.
