Ratnagiri receives three digit rainfall, more showers likelySouthwest Monsoon is currently active over West Coast between Mangalore and Ratnagiri. Good showers have been lashing the region. While Monsoon has not yet covered Ratnagiri, the off shore trough over the region has been giving heavy rains over the city for the past few days.

During the past 24 hours, Ratnagiri has recorded a whopping 102 mm of rainfall. In fact, during the last three days, the city has recorded 220 mm of rainfall. These rains are the first three-digit rains for the pocket. In a span of six days, Ratnagiri has recorded 297 mm of rain.

Currently, the peripherals of the Southwest Monsoon current have started affecting Ratnagiri and adjoining areas where Monsoon is yet to make its onset. In the next couple of days, Southwest Monsoon is expected to cover most parts of Konkan as well.

Usually during this period, the entire West Coast receives good showers. During the next few days, rains will continue to lash the city. At this pace, Ratnagiri is expected to surpass its monthly rainfall. The average monthly rainfall for Ratnagiri stands at a good 821.1 mm.
