March is the driest period for Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra which is why these areas do not anticipate much rainfall activity. It is due to continuous dry weather that the temperatures of both the regions are on a constant rise.
The maximum temperatures are settling above normal by 3-4 degrees. Meanwhile, the minimums are marginally above normal.
Usually, Konkan and Goa get some rain due to the formation of any significant weather system in the Arabian Sea which is the case at present. The well-marked low-pressure area over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Sri Lanka has intensified further into a deep depression.

This system is heading west-northwestwards, concentrating into a deep Depression in the next 48 hours. In the wake of this weather system, light rain is expected to show up over both the regions by March 15 and 16, continuing until March 17. However, the intensity, spread, and duration of these rains would reduce during that time.
The regions like Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Dahanu, Thane, Pune, Sangli and Satara stand strong chances of witnessing rains.

Due to persistent cloud cover and on and off rains, the temperatures may go further down by a few notches.

Farmers are advised to complete harvesting of Rabi crops. Farmers are also recommended to irrigate Groundnut and vegetable crop as temperatures have increased significantly. Due to expected rainfall and cloud cover, mango fruit and inflorescence may drop. Farmers should take adequate measures to control fruit drop.
