Ranchi, Puri, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro to witness more Monsoon showers

With the commencement of Monsoon, both the states of Odisha as well as Jharkhand have been receiving good Monsoon showers. So much so that a few heavy to very heavy rainy spells have also occurred over the region so far, during the Southwest Monsoon period.

The last 24 hours were no different and some good spells of rainfall were seen over Odisha as well as Jharkhand.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Ranchi witnessed a good 42 mm of rain, Balasore 14 mm, Chandbali 36.8 mm, Titlagarh 21 mm, and Bokaro 5 mm.

The rain spread and intensity is more over Odisha, However, both Jharkhand and Odisha have received heavy rains.

As per weathermen at Skymet, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Odisha during the next 24 hours. In fact, cities of Angul, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sonepur will receive good rainfall activity.

Thereafter, intensity of rains will reduce but scattered showers will continue for another two to three days. During this period, Jharkhand will also receive scattered light to moderate rains.

Earlier, a trough was passing through Jharkhand and northern parts of Odisha. Now, this trough is expected to become feeble but rains of lesser intensity will continue over both the states.

Thereafter, another spell of good rains is expected around July 17 when another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Westcentral Bay of Bengal. This system will start affecting Odisha and Jharkhand. Thus, between July 17 and 20, another good spells of rain may occur over these states.
