Jamshedpur has been witnessing on and off good pre-Monsoon showers for the past few days. In fact, yesterday was no different and very heavy rainfall was witnessed over the city to the tune of 104 mm of rain in the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday.

This has given the residents a taste of what’s in store when Monsoon makes an onset over the city during the next 24 hours.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation persisting over Bihar region. A trough is also seen extending from this system up to Interior Odisha. Due to these systems, moisture incursion has increased over the region resulting in good rains over these regions.

According to Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon showers are likely to continue over the eastern parts of the country till the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon over the country. Weather conditions are now favourable for the Monsoon to make onset over India by May 29, with an error margin of +/- three days.
