Rampant snowfall over North India Hills to worsen livelihood

The western disturbance as an upper air system continues to persist over Jammu and Kashmir. And active western disturbance is likely to effect during next 48 hours over northern hills and induce a cyclonic circulation over South Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan.

The rain and snowfall is likely to continue over the hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in next 24 hours with few moderate spells over Jammu and Kashmir. Rain and snowfall will intensify from January 24.

The western disturbance will give moderate snowfall over many places of the region. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in some parts. This snowy spell will cover Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well.

With such intensive snowfall, chances of landslide and disruption of traffic is simply unavoidable. Residents and tourists are advised to stay put and not venture out in the open.

Popular destinations in Himachal Pradesh like Shimla, Manali and most place of Jammu-Kashmir are likely to witness another spell of snowfall from tomorrow onward. Even the popular pilgrimage Vaishno Devi will witness good snowy activity from January 24 onward.
