It seems to be never ending agony for Rajasthan, as mercury continued to soar to extreme levels on Friday as well. For the third consecutive day, Phalodi recorded maximum temperature at 50°C.
Extreme heatwave conditions continued to engulf the entire state, especially parts of West Rajasthan. Bikaner again settled at 49°C, followed by Kota at 48.2°C, and Churu 48.1°C.
Though there has been very marginal drop of 0.5-1 degree, but temperatures continued to settle 5-8 notches above the season’s average.
Further, we do not foresee any major change in temperature profile during next 2-3 days. According to Skymet Weather, no respite is likely from the blistering hot weather conditions.
Any major change in the weather is only anticipated with a fresh weather system that would change the wind pattern and give some rain. However, we are not expecting any significant weather system and hence no relief is in offing for the desert state.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, the abnormally high day temperatures are due to the advection of hot and dry winds from neighbouring country of Pakistan, which is witnessing even hotter conditions at present.
Moreover, Rajasthan’s geographical pattern is such that earth absorbs more heat. Firstly its desert terrain gets heated much faster than the plains. Secondly, there is lots of dust in the atmosphere which does not let the sun radiations escape and thus, accumulates the heat.
